Senior Camogie Munster Final CPR v St. Mary’s Midleton
On the 17th of January, the senior girls were out in action in the Munster final against St. Mary’s Midleton. Midleton got the first score of the game in the opening minutes, but it wasn’t long before Roisin Phelan hit over CPR first point. Laura Hogan worked the ball very well up the field which helped Roisin Phelan get her second point of the game. Ciara Crofton got the ball and struck it into the back of the goals which gave the girls a boost. Midleton were pressing hard on the goals but with Niamh Pyne and the backline nothing was getting passed them. Grace Mulrooney, Roisin Phelan and Nicola Cleary scored some excellent points between them. Just before half time Ella Mulrooney got another goal for CPR.
Half-time CPR 2:07 St. Mary’s Midleton 0:04
Midleton got off to a good start in the second half with a quick goal, however this didn’t stop the girls as Nicola Cleary scored a brilliant goal which was well set up by Grace Mulrooney, Ella Mulrooney and Laura Hogan. Shortly after, Midleton got a few scores which brought the game back to neck and neck. Áine Dooley and Grace Cleary delivered a great ball into the forwards which they made good use of by producing excellent scores. Sorcha Phelan, Lauren Moloney and Roisin Maher came on and made a big impact on the game. Roisin Phelan and Ciara Crofton hit over the last scores of the game which helped the girls win the Munster Final.
Congratulations. Final score CPR 3:11 St. Mary’s Midleton 2:06

Boys Badminton
On Monday, our U16 Boys Badminton County Champions travelled to UL to compete in the Munster Championships, where they were drawn against Coláiste Treasa/Clonakilty CC (Cork) and BCS Lismore (Waterford). The team was made up of Maris and Arnis Litavnieks, Hunor Kiss and Patryk Bochnak.
The boys got themselves off to a great start, defeating Coláiste Treasa/Clonakilty CC in an enthralling 4-2 match. In our second game, the boys were defeated by a very strong BCS Lismore team. The results of these 2 group games qualified the boys for a Munster semi-final. In the semi-final, the boys acquitted themselves excellently, but were unfortunately defeated by a tremendous team from St. Michael’s (Kerry), a team that progressed to win the final.
This was a great learning experience for the boys, which will no doubt stand to them as they progress through their badminton careers. A big thank you to Mr. Sheedy and Mrs. O’Meara for preparing the boys for the day and to those that came to shout on the boys in UL also.
