Junior Camogie Munster Semi-Final
On the 15th of January, the junior team played their Munster semifinal against Mungret Community College, Limerick.
In the opening minutes Mungrets got off to a quick start with an earlier goal. This didn’t affect the girls as a few minutes later Roisin Phelan scored a goal from a free. The back line was working very strong to keep Mungret out of the scoring position. Lauren Lynch worked well taking the frees and delivering them down the field. Roisin Phelan scored a fantastic free from the 45 which helped keep the score board ticking in our favour. Leanne Moloney made an excellent save in the goals and cleared the ball up the field to Lauren Moloney who opened a scoring opportunity for Roisin Phelan. Roisin Phelan made a super solo run up the field then laying off the ball to Sorcha Phelan who grabbed the home side a second goal. Roisin Maher made a super clearance to Emily Whyte and Emily delivered the ball up the field. Aoife Meagher delivered an excellent ball to Sorcha Phelan who then scored her second goal for Coláiste Phobal.
Half time score CPR 3:05 Mungret Community College 2:1
Amy Guidera and Leah Harney worked consistently in the forwards. Caithlin Keeshan scored a brilliant point from a well worked ball by Caoimhe Ryan. Aoibhe McAndrew ran with the ball very well. Kate O Toole, Saoirse Flannery and Roisin Maher worked extremely well to keep the ball out of the Coláiste goal. The girls kept the score board ticking throughout the second half. Sorcha Phelan scored another goal which helped the girls over the line. Saoirse Monaghan and Saoirse Kiely made a great impact when they came on. Roisin Phelan got the last score of the game which helped the girls cross the line and make it to the Munster Final.

On Wednesday 15th of January 2025, two TY students along with Home Economics teacher, Ms. Loughnane, travelled to Archerstown, Thurles for the Induction Day for the upcoming ETB cookery competition.
They were shown around campus – through the kitchen and workshops which was an amazing experience. They were given a private tutorial by Chef Fergal on culinary skills in the kitchen – and how to make chocolate cookies! They were introduced to the other Tipperary ETB school teams who will be participating in the competition on Thursday the 30th of January and had a photo opportunity with them including Director of Schools Clodagh Kelly.
The two TY students who will be representing CPR in the competition are Ciara Crofton and Aoibhe McAndrew (who was not able to attend the induction day, substituted by Abi Marks) We look forward to hearing how they got on in the upcoming competition!

Irish Angus Beef Competition
Well done to our two Irish Angus Beef groups who competed in the second stage of the Irish Angus Beef Competition. This stage consisted of an interview in Teagasc Research Centre Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork. Both groups were asked various questions from three panel members which were from ABP, Kepak and the Irish Angus Beef Society on their topic and video in which they completed during stage one.
Group 1 consists of Emily Whyte, Marie Shanahan, Roisin Maher and Leah Harney. Their topic is trying to create awareness on farmers mental health and they are investigating how the Angus breed can improve the mental health of farmers.
Group 2 consists of Brian Oakley, Killian Meagher, Tim Cleary, Eoghan Sheedy. Their topic is investigating how the use of red clover can improve the sustainability on farm while maintaining or increasing the body condition score, health, conformation and weight of the Angus breed.
They will now await the results from this interview and will prepare for the third stage of the competition if that are to get through. This is a brilliant experience for all students as it develops social and interview skills while also getting to meet large scale food producers and develop their knowledge on beef. Well done to all.
