Gerard O’Brien Tournament
On Weds May 1st we hosted the annual Gerard O’Brien Memorial Tournament in Holycross. Eight teams took part in what was a fantastic day of hurling.
Congratulations to Coláiste Mhuire Johnstown, who ran out eventual winners and were presented with the cup as well as to Nenagh College who won the shield competition.
Thanks to all who participated, the O’Brien family and to Mr. Slattery, Mr. Smyth and Mr. Pollard for coordinating.

School Golf
On Thursday we had our final golf outing of the year, sadly we’ve not had as many outings as we would have wished for over the school year with the weather against us for many months. Thirteen boys braved the wet weather conditions on Thursday with great scores in considering how tough it was out there. Thank you once again to Roscrea Golf Club for allowing the students use of the course. Despite the weather an enjoyable day was had by all.

EAST MUNSTER SCHOOLS ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Well done to our athletes who travelled to Waterford for the East Munster Schools Championships on Thursday. Marie Shanahan won silver in the hammer and the discus. Lily Anne O Meara won silver in the 80m hurdles and bronze in the Long Jump. Both girls qualify for the Munster finals on Sat 18th May. Our other team members were Grace Mulrooney, Jessica O Donoghue, Ellie Dunphy, Caoimhe Ryan, Alicia England and Méabh Lyons. Despite the cold, wet conditions, it was a great day out. Well done to all. We wish the boys the best of luck next Wed for their East Munsters.
Student Council Visit to Thomond Community College
Our Student Council enjoyed a very worthwhile visit to Thomond Community College in Limerick last week. They began their visit with a welcome from the school librarian and a tour of the library. Following this, they met with members of the Thomond College student council and exchanged ideas and experiences.
Our students also had the opportunity to meet with members of the student book club who spoke about some of their favourite books. Our students were then presented with some copies of the books that students of Thomond had written themselves (illustrated by artist Hugh McMahon) to add to our library.
The visit ended with a mini Drop Everything and Read where students and staff got to choose books and enjoy some quiet reading.
All in all it was a very successful trip and we would once more like to extend our sincere thanks to Jane, and all at Thomond Community College for facilitating our visit.
