Junior Camogie
On the 26th of March the junior camogie team travelled down to Mitchelstown to compete in their Munster final against Colaiste Fionnchua, Mitchelstown.
In the starting minutes of the match, the back line played tremendously keeping the ball away from the goals. Our back line included Róisin Maher, Kate O’Toole, Saoirse Flannery, Aoife Meagher, Emily Whyte and Lauren Moloney. Around 10 minutes into the match Róisin Phelan won a free, which led to her scoring an outstanding point. Not long after, Sorcha Phelan scored an excellent goal. Just a few minutes later, Sorcha got hold of the ball again and scored a point. The score at the end of the 1st half of the match was 1-2 to 0-5.
At the beginning of the second half the girls started back strong with brilliant saves made by Leanne Maloney. Shortly after the half started, Sorcha Phelan scored a great point with the help of the forward line, this included Róisin Phelan, Leah Harney, Saoirse Monahan, Caoimhe Ryan and Cailtin Keeshan. Midfielders, Aoibhe McAndrews and Amy Guidera worked fantastically together to try and create scoring opportunities all through the match. The final score was 1-3 to 0:10
The girls worked so hard throughout the entire match but unfortunately it just didn’t go their way. However, with such a talented team, we have no doubt that they will come back even stronger next year!
