Parents Association School Fundraiser
Excitement is building in Coláiste Phobal for what is to be the school’s first ever 5K Fun Run/Walk fundraiser on Sunday 9th March. Our event starts at 10a.m with registration taking place from 9:15a.m
Our Parents Association are working hard behind the scenes to organise what promises to be a fun filled morning and we are inviting all members of our community to come out and support us! We would also like to the Premier Credit Union Roscrea for their help and sponsorship with the event.
U 15 Football:
On 31st Jan our U15 footballers made the short trip to Thurles to take on Coláiste Mhuire in the Munster Championship. In what was a tough battle throughout, we narrowly lost out after a strong second half display from our opponents. The final score was 1-2 to 1-8. Stand out performers for us on the day were Mark Coonan, Harry Jones and Christian Nolan. The boys can be very proud of their efforts as they battled brilliantly until the final whistle.
Past Pupil Camogie Achievements
Congratulations to our past pupils on their recent achievements in camogie.
Sharon Shanahan was vice captain of the UL Team who won back to back Ashbourne Cups when they overcame UCC.
Jane Cleary received the Intermediate Camogie Player of the year at the recent Offaly GAA Awards.
Finally, the Offaly senior camogie captain Orlagh Phelan, was part of the MIC Limerick Team that recently won the Purcell Cup.
All of us here in the Coláiste are very proud of your achievements girls and we look forward to hearing about your future sporting successes!
25 YEARS OF COLÁISTE
The 2024-2025 school year is an exciting one in many respects, not least of which is due to the fact that it marks a significant milestone in the history of the school- marking 25 years since Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré opened, following the amalgamation of the three schools in the town. Bearing this in mind we are working on a project to mark this milestone and would like to invite you, the alumni of CPR to have an input.
We would love if you could share with us your stories, memories and photographs of your time in Coláiste- or- in whichever one of the three schools in the town that you attended. You can send us anything you would like to alumni@cpr.ie or if it suited you to drop something into the school directly that would be great also!
1st year Gaelic Football:
On Thursday 6th of February our 1st year squad made the trip to Coolmore Dr Morris park for a developmental blitz. We played three matches on the day and were victorious in all three. Our opponents on the day were Our Lady’s Templemore, Rockwell College and Borrisoleigh. With only a small squad, all players gave exemplary performances throughout, with many players playing their first ever Gaelic football matches. We had many stand out performers on the day throughout the team. Harry Jones was a stand out in our first game and he showed great composure to slot a penalty with the last kick of that game to earn us the win. MJ Quinlivan’s ability to read the game and do the simple things to an exemplary standard was noteworthy in our second game and Josh McEvoy pulled the strings from a new position at midfield in our final game. Other notable performances came from Conor Keeshan, Kuba Bochnak and Josh Pearson.
