Transition Year Young Cooks Competition
Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré held the in house competition for the TY Young Cooks Competition on Monday 9th December 2025. Congratulations to all who entered, the standard was incredibly high. Aoibhe McAndrew and Ciara Crofton were the winners and will now proceed to the regional finals in Archerstown on the 31st January. Part of the criteria for the competition was that two of the ingredients were to be sourced from local producers. This made students more aware of the value of our local food producers and to support them. Thank you to Monty and Ms. Ormond who judged the competition
Senior Hurling Semi-Final v Coláiste Dún Iascaigh
On Monday the 9th of December our senior hurling panel travelled to UL to face Coláiste Dún Iascaigh in the Munster Semi-Final.
In the first minute, man of the match Jack Walsh gets the opening score followed by some well worked scores by Sam Dooley, Gearóid Maher and Paul Dooley. The whole backline worked tremendously together to defend the ball and contributed to more scores, including a brilliant save by Mikey Loughnane putting his body on the line to defend the ball which allowed goalkeeper Matt Watkins to clear out the ball. Sam Dooley finds the back of the net in the 25th minute which put CPR in a good position.
The half time score was CPR 1:13 CDI 1:04
CPR started off the second half strong with another goal from Sam Dooley in the first 30 seconds. We kept the scoreboard ticking as we got more excellent well earned scores from James Sampson, Gearóid Maher, Sam Dooley and Paul Dooley including another goal by Seamie Cleare. Paul Simpson kept the backline well under control while working in the centre-back position. Sam Dooley finished off strong with the last score of the game.
CPR now go on to play in the Munster Final. The very best of luck to our Senior panel and their coaches.
The final score was CPR 3-18 to CDI 1-10
