Senior Boys’ Soccer

Match Report: Jamie Keeshan (TY Future Leaders Programme)

Coláiste Phobal Roscrea vs Athy College
Final Score: 7-2

Man of the match: Miko Pasalic

Last Monday our senior boys soccer team took on Athy College in the Leinster League in the school’s field at 11 o’clock. It was a cold day but the boys were eager to get a win at home.
The match started off with CPR having most of the possession. Miko scored two great goals to open the scoring with Sam Carey and Sam Dooley providing the assists, CPR kept the momentum showing great work rate and determination especially from Rumai Havatitye, Christopher Bahon and Paul Dooley. However just before half time, Athy were awarded a penalty, but it was denied by Cathal McDonald with a terrific save to the right-hand side of the goal. HT score: Coláiste Phobal :2 – Athy College: 0.

At half time Coláiste’s sixth year student Ryan O’Callaghan came on for Om Issen on the left wing. We started the second half strong again and another goal was scored by Sam Dooley who lobbed the goalie from outside the box with a wonderful strike. Athy then had a really good spell of possession and scored two quickfire goals which left Coláiste a little nervier on the ball. Eoghan McLoughlin was then introduced off the bench and made a quick impact by scoring two quickfire goals which allowed us to be more comfortable in the closing moments of the game. This was a really good result which saw Coláiste field a Senior Boys Soccer team for the first time in a number of years. Well done boys.

Transition Year Annual Bucket Collection

A huge thank you goes to our Transition Year students who braved the wind and rain to raise funds for Sr Móna Maher in Uganda. The Transition Years took to their annual street collection in Roscrea to perform Christmas carols, much to the delight of the locals! Thank you to all who so kindly donated for a much worthy cause.
