SENIOR CYCLE HISTORY TOUR
On Wednesday October 2nd our Senior Cycle History students went to Dublin to visit Croke Park and Glasnevin Cemetery.
While in Croke Park we got a stadium tour, experienced some of the interactive exhibits in the GAA Museum and got to climb the steps of the Hogan Stand. We also got to experience Croke Park from above when we completed the Kellogg’s Skyline Tour, giving us the opportunity to view Dublin City and to appreciate the location of some of the events we have been studying as part of our course.
Our second stop on our History Tour was Glasnevin Cemetery, where we were taken on a tour of Irish History via the gravestones of some of the most influential figures of the 19th and 20th century.
From O’Connell and Parnell to Collins and De Valera with some more in between- it was a fantastic revision of the main events and figures from Sovereignty and Partition.
Thanks also to Ms. Larkin, Mr. Sheedy, Ms. Cullen and Ms. O’Donoghue for organising and facilitating such a worthwhile trip for our students.

SENIOR HURLING
Senior hurling practice match vs Scoil Ruáin Killenaule.
On the 4th of October our senior panel travelled to Killenaule to play them in a practice match.
In the opening minutes of the game the ball was worked well through the forwards leading to Sam Dooley getting the opening score of the match. These were followed by 2 impressive points from Calum Mitchell which put us 3 points up. The back line was working well to defend the counterattack with a brave save from Matt Watkins in goals.
Killenaule followed with a point from a 65 and followed with another 2 points.
Soon after, James Sampson scored 2 brilliant points. The ball was defended brilliantly by Charlie Carroll, Cathal McDonald and Darragh Phelan. Aaron O’Donoghue and James Sampson worked well together to deliver the ball to Gearoid Maher who scored an outstanding goal. Sam Dooley followed this with a goal from a penalty and a final point before half time.
The half time score was 2:06 to 2:05 to CPR
In the opening minutes of the second half Killenaule clocked up their scores with 3 early points. They weren’t on top for long because of super play from the back line to keep the ball up the field into the hands of Sam Dooley as he scored his second goal of the game. A few changes were made including Jack Walsh coming in wing forward who made an impact and scored 2 points. The team fought until the very end and was an even match all throughout.
The final score was a draw of 3.11 to each side.

TIPPERARY DIVISIONAL ROADS POLICING UNIT ROAD SAFETY SEMINAR
On Thursday 3rd October, TY and LCA students from Coláiste Phobal Ros Cre had a very informative workshop delivered by Garda Annaststia Murphy and Garda Eamonn Ratigan. The workshop looked at several scenario’s where road users lives are put at risk through careless driving. The day was greatly enhanced by Virtual Reality head sets loaned to us for the day by Tipperary County Council. It is hoped that students who completed the workshop will be far more mindful of the dangers on the road and thus increase the safety of themselves and others.
