GAA Future Leaders

On Tuesday 17th of October our TY GAA future leaders class took part in an introduction to coaching and refereeing seminar from 10am to 1pm.

The aim of this course was to provide a basic understanding of what is involved in coaching underage players and how best to encourage their involvement and develop their skills. The students looks at the theory of coaching and then got involved in the practical side. Fundamental movement and sport specific skills were developed with both Hurling and Gaelic Football skills being sampled.

To utilise the skills gained on the day and that will be further developed across the Future Leaders programme, these students have committed to organising a blitz for local primary schools in the new year where they will coach and referee on the day.

This seminar was facilitated by Paudie Butler who is the Tipperary GAA Games Development Administrator. Many thanks to Paudie for his continued help and support.

Senior Hurling

Our senior hurlers participated in the Barry Nash Memorial Blitz this week, they beat Scariff in a hotly contested first match on a score-line of 1-12 to 1-10 and went on to meet close neighbours Cistercian College Roscrea in the final. It was a fierce battle and a great game of hurling but unfortunately, we were narrowly defeated in the end. Well done to all involved.
