TRANSITION YEAR ACTIVITIES
ENTERPRISE
There are many groups of Transition year enterprises currently underway selling many different products available for students, teachers and anyone in Roscrea willing to buy. For example, Elyse Hearns, Róisín Tuohy and Áine Maher are selling Christmas sweet cups filled with Maltesers, jellies and more. Alannah Dunford, Imelda Hennessy, Kelsey Doherty and Eimear O’Sullivan are selling personalized Christmas baubles with a photo and sweets inside. Mateusz Swiderski, Lorcan O’Donnell and Armand Odor are currently selling wooden decorations also. We’ve been working hard on our enterprise projects since September, and 40% of our earnings will be going to charity.
TY FILM CLUB
The transition years have been hosting a film club during lunch times from Mondays to Thursdays available to first, second and third years. It takes place in the gym balcony and refreshments are sold outside the classroom by one of our TY enterprises. Films so far that have been shown include “Fast and Furious 7”, “The Kissing Booth” and “Jumanji”. We’ve had many viewers so far, having started the club in early November.
Memorial Christmas Trees in Roscrea Centre
Well done to all TY students for all their work making the squares for the memorial Christmas trees in Roscrea Centre. Here they are pictured with their Programme coordinator Ms. Mulrooney admiring their contribution to the Memorial Christmas Trees. They spent many hours knitting and crocheting squares. Well done everyone.
LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME
All the transition years took part in a leadership programme with David Feehan to develop our leadership and teamwork skills. We did various activities including a scavenger hunt, watched video clips, quizzes and more. We learned about the qualities and personality traits of a leader and found out about global companies and how they are ran. It lasted for 3 hours and took place in the library.
FOOD DONATION APPEAL
Samantha O’Toole, Isabel O’Meara, Keri Pohjanen and Aileen Gleeson are collecting one cent, two cent, and five cent coins to donate to the children in Uganda. They are also asking people to donate foods such as pasta and other non-perishable foods for our food appeal.
TY Musical Frame 2019/20
Well done to 5th years Caoimhe Flannery, Alannah Cleary, Ellie Feehan and Leah Ryan for all their work on their Musical Frame from their TY Musical ‘Totally 90’s’, our 10th Annual Musical which has gone up in the school canteen. Thanks to Elyse Hearns, Áine Maher and Róisín Tuohy for all their work so far and continuous work on school Photos, naming them and sorting them.
21 Year Anniversary Service
As part of our 21 year Anniversary there will be a special online service which can be viewed this week on our school website (www.cpr.ie) or on our school Facebook page. Many thanks to Fr. Lorcan, Mr Haugh and Mr Maher for their work putting this together. Also thanks to Ms. Gothard and Ms. Larkin for all their help getting the Music and singing together and to all students who took part. This is one of many events this academic year to mark the schools anniversary.
