6th Year Graduation
The graduation ceremony for the Leaving Cert. class of 2017-2018 took place on Thursday the 24th in Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré. The theme of this year’s ceremony was ‘OHANA’. The opening reflection read by Ciara Hogan and Emma Wright explained the meaning of ‘OHANA’
REFLECTION – Ohana Means …..
* Those who care for you and are always there for you, are never far away
* Those who love you
* Helping one another even when times get rough
* Nobody gets left behind
* You are never truly alone
* Us
* Anyone who treats you with respect and kindness
* Always having a friend
* Those who you can trust
* We are all equal and just as important as everyone else
* Always have faith
* Comfort
* Being true to yourself and always following your gut
* Never turn you back on family, even if they do
* Everything
* Ohana means family, friends and classmates as well as everyone in between. They are people we make memories with, that we will remember for our lifetime. Those who shared a part in our childhood and early adulthood, each affecting us in their own unique way.
The 6th years had picked songs for their service that linked in with the theme. They opened their ceremony with the song ‘Brave’ Aoife Maher, Orlaith Cleary and Katie Scully then performed a beautiful version of the song ‘This is Me’. The group then gave a very emotive performance of ‘Fix You’. Neil Maher and Joe Ahern gave a lively performance of ‘These Days’. The service finished with the entire group singing ‘Breakaway’. Mr O’Connor presented each graduate with their certificates. Head Boy Neil Maher and Head Girl Margaret Harty addressed both their peers, parents, guardians and teachers with very powerful speeches. The ceremony concluded with each of the 6th year students releasing a white balloon each outside the gym.
Everyone in Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré would like to wish each and every 6th year students the very best of luck in the forthcoming examinations.
