Seachtain na Gaeilge
Different events were organised in Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré from 12 -16 of March to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. On Tuesday second year students took part in a table quiz. At lunchtime traditional musicians treated everyone to some rousing traditional music in the junior social area. On Thursday 3rd year students took part in another table quiz. Also, on Thursday members of our All Ireland winning camogie team took part in a 1k run with Tipperary Hurler Noel McGrath as part of the National Festival ‘Rith’. Rith 2018 is a national festival that took place between 11 and 17 March 2018 as one of the main events of Seachtain na Gaeilge. A 500+km course was laid out for a massive relay-race run, running from morning to night, from Belfast, around the country to finish in Kerry. A special hand-carved baton was designed that carried a hidden message throughout Rith 2018. At the end of the run, the message of support for the Irish language was read out. Rith 2018 is a new way to celebrate the Irish language and culture in a way that is visual, fun, community based and can be celebrated throughout the island of Ireland.
Students from Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré carried the baton for 1 km around Roscrea. Well done to all the students and teachers involved.
