Coláiste Students sweep Entrepreneur awards

Entrepreneurial spirit was alive and well in Coláiste Phobal Roscrea on Friday 6th of March, four teams from Coáiste Phobal went to LIT Thurles to take part in the Tipperary Student Enterprise Awards. These awards promote and foster entrepreneurial culture in classrooms across the country. They offer students the opportunity to take a business from the idea stage, through market research, production, selling, record keeping and management. Neil Maher Third Year took First Prize in the Intermediate Category with his enterprise ‘Maher’s Free Range Eggs’. Neil now goes through to the National Finals in Croke Park in April. Other prize winners from the school were the ‘Smoothini Wagen’ who won Best Display and ‘Roscea Cards’ who took second place in the Senior Category. Well done to Cathal Nash, Katie Tyrrell, Rachel Gilmartin, Nicole Darmody and Daniel Quinlan. The ‘Stick Stack’ team also represented the school on the day with their innovative idea for hurl storage. To have three winners out of four with such stiff competition is a fantastic achievement for the school. The very best to Neil in the Nationals in April. A thank you must also be extended to Ms Neilsen, Ms Rice, Mr Flynn and Mr Harney who supported students to complete their projects.
